Welcome to Rustic France
Our two gîtes are nestled in the pretty Charentaise hamlet of La Gaillochonnière between the market towns of Chef-Boutonne and Sauzé-Vaussais. The hamlet is set among fields of corn and sunflowers in the heart of rural, agricultural France, we are in easy reach of many diverse local amenities, and never far from the many attractions in the Poitou Charente region.
Stonemason’s Barn was once used as an animal store and was renovated by a local stonemason. It's full of quirky features and has some unusual stone decorations on the outside. Suitable for a romantic couples hideaway, it's a perfect rustic & cosy barn with oodles of character!
Tobacco Barn was originally used for drying tobacco until the 1950's. The Barn is a light & airy conversion which comfortably sleeps 6. A double-height grand living space overlooked by a mezzanine lounge leads, through huge patio doors, into a private garden and al fresco dining area with the Barn's own entrance to the swimming pool & terrace.
Both gîtes are full of rustic French charm, exposed stone walls and oak beams.
Tables, chairs, sun-loungers and parasols are dotted around the gardens and the terrace, and there are lush and shady areas should you wish to have a break from the sun. When night falls, you can enjoy some wine, or a glass of the local Pineau, in the deliciously warm summer evenings - or cuddle up during the winter months around the wood burning stove in Stonemason's Barn or the infinite central-heated warmth of Tobacco Barn....
